Panaji, Oct 11: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) legislator Fransisco Micky Pacheco was given bail by district and sessions court in Margao today in connection with the assault on a government servant.

The court, last week, had upheld the conviction handed over to Pacheco by Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), which had sentenced him for six months imprisonment.

Pacheco, a former tourism minister, was thereafter admitted in Goa medical college and hospital after he complained of low blood pressure and chest pain.

The district court today admitted the review petition filed by Pacheco and granted him bail while staying the earlier order.

Pacheco’s lawyer said that the court will now hear the case afresh.

The legislator was charge-sheeted by police for assaulting Electricity Department Junior Engineer Kapil Natekar in the year 2009. As per the police complaint, Pacheco had assaulted the engineer by calling him in his office at Betalbhatim village in South Goa.
