Mangalore, Oct 10: It was a heart-rending scene at the city's SCS Hospital here on Monday October 10, after Zabina, a 19-year-old girl suddenly died.
Zabina had been admitted to the hospital on October 5 after she complained of abdominal pain. She was then diagnosed with appendicitis. On October 6 she underwent a surgery, and was said to be fine.
However, on check up, the family doctor said that the infection had spread inside her body, after which the doctor who operated on her was called. It was decided that she had to be operated immediately, and on October 7, she was again taken for another surgery.
Less than 48 hours after the second surgery, she collapsed. Her family members have alleged that doctor's negligence led to her death.
Zabina was from Addur here. She was known to be a healthy girl.
Following the incident, a crowd gathered at the hospital premises and demanded an explanation. The doctor is yet to arrive at the spot, and a statement is awaited.
