Kolar, Apr 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ‘Nalayak’ (unfit) to advise unemployed boys and girls to make and sell ‘Pakoras,’ criticised chief minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday.
Addressing an election rally in favour of the Kolar Congress candidate K V Gowtham, he said the younger generation had voted for the BJP believing in Modi’s promise of solving unemployment problem by creating 2 crore jobs every year and all that he did was advising the unemployed boys and girls to make and sell pakoras.
“The youths have decided that Modi is 'nalayak' to be PM,” he said asking the people whether they want to vote for a 'nalayak' PM.
Siddaramaiah focussed his attention on the inflation and rise in prices of essential commodities. “What were the prices of petrol, diesel, LPG, fertiliser, cooking oil and pulses when Modi became PM in 2014 and what is the situation in 2024 after 10 years?” he asked.
“Have you gained anything under Modi’s 10-year rule? Hasn’t he cheated the youths by promising to create 2 crore jobs every year and the farmers by promising to double their income,” he said and asked the people whether the voters want to vote for Modi regime after its failure during the last 10 years.
The chief minister said the Congress party, unlike the BJP, delivers on its promises and improved the lot of people through its guarantees, which have contributed Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000 in the pockets of the families.
“All that Modi and BJP did was holding out false promises and hopes and cheating without doing anything. 'Acche Din' and the credit of Rs 15 lac in each person’s bank account are the most grandiose promises conveniently forgotten,” he said pointing out that the I.N.D.I. Alliance of opposition parties has come with 25 guarantees, which will bring about a change in the lives of the people if Modi is defeated.
How “Khali Chombu” appears like Akshayapatra to Deve Gowda?
Targeting the BJP’s alliance partner JD(S), the chief minister asked JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda as to how the “khali chombu” (empty pot) appears like a “akshayapatra” (bountiful vessel) and wondered if the former PM is unable to see the injustice done by Modi to Karnataka during the last 10 years.
Siddaramaiah said the BJP regime in the State and Modi regime in Delhi have completely belied the expectations of the people and have forgotten their promises. “It is a 'khali chombu' and any sensible person will be able to see it. Do you still want to vote for this khali chombu of Modi and BJP’s partner JD(S), who have completely failed?” he asked.
The chief minister said Deve Gowda, who has served as the State’s CM and the country’s PM, should know the reality.
“How did the empty pot or 'khali chombu' of Modi’s BJP look like 'akshayapatra' to him at his old age? Karnataka is yet to receive funds for drought relief and has been constantly facing injustice in devolution of funds despite contributing the most to the Central exchequer. If Modi and BJP rule is an Akshayapatra, why the promises and grants been stalled to the State?” he asked.
“If the khali chombu is akshayapatra, why the loans of farmers are not waived? Why the injustice in devolution of funds is not rectified?” he said and pointed out that the akshayapatra has really helped big capitalists by writing off their huge loans while the common man is suffering.
The 15th Finance Commission is proof of the 'khali chombu', which Deve Gowda thinks is 'akshayapatra'. “If Modi’s khali chombu is akshayapatra, please ensure that the funds due to Karnataka are released,” he added.
