Bantwal, Oct 10: Sadbhavan Samavesh of Bharatiya Jain Milan Zone 8, City division and felicitation of Jain Milan national president D Surendra Kumar was held at Manjunateshwar Kalyan Mantap, here on Sunday October 9.
Thousands of representatives from 120 Jain Milan units from Udupi, Shimoga, Kodagu and other districts under Mangalore division participated in the Samavesh.
South Canara District Central Co-operative (SCDCC) Bank chairman M N Rajendra Kumar inaugurated the Samavesh here on Sunday.
Speaking at the occasion, Rajendra Kumar urged Jain community to develop humanitarian virtues along with business acumen. Meanwhile, Rajendra Kumar announced Rs 1 lac each towards renovation of two Basadi at the same occasion.
Swami Charukirti of Moodbidri mutt in his message, commended yeomen service of Jain Milan in social and cultural sphere.
Swami Charukirti honoured D Surendra Kumar with Milan Bhushan Award in the latter’s hometown.
Surendra Kumar in acknowledgement to the honour, said that Jain community has to be united in struggle for their rights. The union Government has considered minority status to the community, which will be announced in a few months, said Surendra Kumar.
Mangalore SDM Law College retired principal professor A Rajendra Shetty delivered the felicitation address.
Bharatiya Jain Milan 8 – president M S Mratyunjaya, secretary Prasanna Kumar were the chief guests of the occasion.
Bharatiya Jain Milan zone 8 – women wing president Anita Surendra Kumar, Bantwal Jain Milan president Subaschandra Jain, secretary Harsharaj Ballal were present at the dais.
Jain Milan Mangalore division president Dr Yasho Varma welcomed the gathering. Secretary Pushparaj Jain delivered the introductory address. Samavesh convener Sudarshan Jain proposed vote of thanks. Vrashabharaj Jain compered the programme. Cultural programmes and display of Jain traditional delicacies were held after the stage programme.
