Punjab, Apr 14: IPS officer Navjot Simi's career trajectory is captivating. A qualified dentist by profession, she made the bold decision to transition to civil service. After leaving her dental practice, she successfully cleared the UPSC exam on her first attempt.
Hailing from Gurudaspur, Punjab, Simi completed her BDS from the prestigious Baba Jaswant Singh Dental Hospital and Research Institute in Ludhiana. Despite establishing herself in the dental field, her passion for public service led her to pursue her dream of becoming an IPS officer. With dedication and perseverance, she achieved an impressive All India Rank (AIR) of 735 in the UPSC examination. Presently, she serves as the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Patna.
Navjot is renowned for her proactive approach in controlling crime and safeguarding the rights of women and children in her jurisdiction. Her impactful work has garnered a significant following on social media platforms such as Instagram and Twitter.
Reflecting on her journey, Navjot emphasizes the importance of aspiring UPSC candidates having a clear vision of their goals and aspirations in public service.
Simi's husband, Tushar Singla, is also a distinguished civil servant. He secured an impressive AIR of 86 in the UPSC exam of 2015 and currently holds the position of District Magistrate in Banka, Bihar.
