Kundapur, Oct 7: Thousands of devotees, mainly from Kerala and Karnataka, took part in the annual Navaratri car festival held at Kollur Goddess Mookambika temple on Wednesday October 5.
Byndoor MLA, K Lakshminarayana, former MP, Vinay Kumar Sorake, former MLA, K Gopal Poojary, temple administrative officer, Sadashiva Prabhu, executive officer, Sanjeev Madiwala, etc took part in the car festival.
Renowned singer, Dr K J Jesudas, who is an ardent devotee of the Goddess, took part in the car festival, apart from witnessing the ‘Vidyaramba’ programme the next day.
Over 3,000 young children were initiated to education at the temple under ‘Vidyarambha’ programme held on Thursday morning. Over 40 priests officiated this programme, in which the children are made to write ‘Aum’ in the rice before the same is written on the tongue of the child with a gold coin.
Additional police forces had been deployed to facilitate the devotees. Chief priests of the temple, Manjunath Adiga, Govind Adiga and Narasimha Adiga, guided the procedures. ‘Kadiru Puja’ and ‘Vijayotsava’ were also held on Thursday.
