Bantwal, Apr 8: A car suddenly burst into flames on Monday morning near Kudkoli on the Bantwal-Moodbidri road. Fortunately, there were no casualties in the incident.
Local residents and personnel from the Bantwal fire service swiftly extinguished the fire. Thanks to the quick reaction of the driver and passengers, who evacuated the vehicle upon noticing smoke, no injuries were reported. However, the car was completely destroyed by the fire, leading to a temporary blockage of traffic on the road for over an hour.
The vehicle belonged to Sharath Shetty, a resident of Elinje Kollottu. The fire is believed to have been caused by a battery short circuit. Despite the brakes being inoperable, the driver managed to bring the vehicle to a stop through quick thinking. The car was occupied by four individuals, including a child.
