Bantwal, Apr 7: A tragic accident occurred on Saturday when a scooter, carrying a school student as a pillion rider, collided with an auto-rickshaw at Dindige of Narikombu on the Panemangaluru-Shamboor road.

The victim, Pavan (17), the son of Neelappa Poojary from Shediguri, lost his life in the collision. He was traveling as a pillion rider on the scooter from B C Road. The auto-rickshaw, driven by Zabeer from Sajipa and heading towards Shamboor, was involved in the accident. Zabeer sustained injuries and has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Pavan, a second-year pre-university (PU) student at B Mooda government PU college, was awaiting his examination results. Described as an outstanding student, he was on his way to his father's hotel in Shediguri during the summer vacation. Pavan was the younger of Neelappa Poojary's two sons.

The Bantwal traffic police station has registered a case in connection with the accident.
