Bellary, Oct 5: In connection with the recovery of a gun at the house of Kudligi MLA, B Nagendra on Monday during the raid by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials, a first information against him has been registered against him at Gandhinagar police station here.
In the meantime, police inquiries revealed that the gun in question belongs to one of Nagendra’s gunmen. Police constable, Shantamurty, was appointed to provide security to the MLA. In this connection, district police commissioner, Dr Chandragupta, has issued orders, suspending the gunman in question. Shantamurty is one of the four persons deputed to provide security to the MLA.
The police department said that the gun provided to the gunman should always be with him. When he is not on duty, he should deposit the gun in the nearest armoury of the department or nearby police station. But Shantamurty, who did not accompany Nagendra at the time, is found to have committed dereliction of duty by leaving behind his weapon at the home of the MLA.
It is learnt that Nagendra, who was on a visit of Bangalore at the time, was accompanied by only two security personnel instead of four.
