Ranebennuru (Haveri), Mar 30: Ensuring a strong inclusive growth is the real guarantee of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said former BJP chief minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Addressing a meeting welcoming several backward class leaders into BJP as part of his election campaign, he said the state was witnessing a big change.
The chief minister and deputy chief minister think the state was under their control. Some great leaders would come out of the control to ensure the change in the situation, he said.
He accused the Congress leaders for not seeing people due to intoxication of power as they were surrounded only by sycophants. They would understand the reality after the announcement of results. Those backward classes leaders who joined the BJP would be treated with respect, he said.
The BJP leader said the situation was quite contrast in other states. But the picture was totally different in Karnataka as the voters were matured. The people did not support the state government led by Ramakrishna Hegde in Lok Sabha polls but he got overwhelming support in the subsequent Assembly election after he tendered resignation. In 2013, the Karnataka voters supported the Congress party but it was rejected in the parliamentary election held next year and votes for Narendra Modi.
In last ten years, the opinion about Bharath has changed in the world. Earlier, they would hear about terrorist attacks. When Pakistan attacked India, the then PM Dr Manmohan Singh wrote letter to the Pakistan counterpart alleging their country people attacked India. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi did the surgical strike and sent a strong message to Pakistan that they would be spared if they attack Bharath.
The developed countries were facing recession but the Bharath has achieved 7 per cent growth. The BJP government has given 8 lakh houses to people and water and toilet to every house. The inclusive growth has been a guarantee given by Modi.
The Congress which had announced to implement the backward classes commission report before the parliamentary election, has now become silent. They have done injustice to the backward classes. The funds earmarked for the SCs/STs had been diverted for guarantees implementation. The voters must vote the BJP for development, he added.
