Mumbai, Oct 4 (IANS): A benchmark index for Indian equities Tuesday was ruling quiet in early trade, having fallen 302 points in the previous session.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), opened in the red and was ruling at 16,133.79 points, down 17.66 points or 0.11 percent from its previous close at 16,453.76 points.
The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was also trading lacklustre, 0.11 percent down or 5.15 points at 4,844.35 points.
Broader markets were also subdued. The BSE midcap index was up 0.33 percent while the BSE small cap index was ruling 0.14 percent up.
