Udupi: Proposal to Extend Mumbai-Mangalore Train Opposed

Udupi, Oct 3: President of Udupi Railway Yatri Sangha, R L Dias, has expressed concerns that the proposed extension of Mumbai CST-Mangalore train to Ernakulam will create problems for the people residing in Karnataka coast and Goa.

“The timings of the trains which start from centres in Kerala are not suitable for the people of these places. The current timing of the above super fast train, which leaves Mangalore at 2 pm and reaches Mumbai CST at 4.25 am, is suitable for the commuters from Karnataka.  At the same time, they can come back by starting at 10.15 pm from Mumbai and reaching Mangalore at 12.25 pm. Likewise, people of Goa can start at 7 pm and reach Mumbai next morning,” he said.

He noted that the additional distance of 410 km from Mangalore to Ernakulam will affect the timings of the train to the detriment of the passengers from Karnataka and Goa. He said that the association has already written to the concerned, opposing the extension of the train to Ernakulam.

    Unless and otherwise, all Coastal people unite and fight, make Rail-roko, Bus roko, Bundhs, Stone throwings, Agitations, Harthals, distroying Public and Private properties, we are not getting anything. Mumbai - Mangalore Train may go directly to Kerala without stopping any Railways Stations of Coastal Karntaka District. Bangalore - Karwar Train never run at all. Beware of Coastal people. Wake up and fully suport Mr. Dias and Others who are fighting for the cause.

    If at all the Railways needs to appease the Kerala commuters. they could start a connecting train from Mangalore to Kerals. Thereby leaving the Mangalore/goa passengers to their comfort.

    Keralites will succeed in grabing all external facilites to their destination, becuase of majority station ticketing officer's are Mallus and reserve the tikcet to Kerlaites first. We just watch the fun.

    If the Train starts from Ernakulam believe me there will be seats left for mangalore.

    I fully agree with the association. neverthless, even it will be difficult for Mangalore and Goa passangers to get the berths if this train is extended even one station further. we are already facing problem of berths in Matsyagandha train. For that matter, there are enough trains for ernakulam from Mumbai and other destinationations. It is better to keep this train limited to Mangalore. atleast passengers from Mangalore and Goa can travel with ease.
