Mangalore, Oct 3: “Fast food is tastier, but it also causes minor health problems,” said Fr Vincent D’Souza, parish priest, Our Lady of Mercy, Panir.
He was speaking at the health camp held in the parish school auditorium on Sunday October 2. It was held jointly by Panir parish units of Catholic Sabha, ICYM, Stree Sangatan, and Justice K S Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA), Deralakatte.
“Everyone gets sick sometime in life, but people avoid going to a doctor. Meanwhile, the sickness inflates into a full grown disease as the days pass by. These health camps provide a chance to address health concerns,” added Fr D’Souza.
Health camp organizer Franklyn D’Cunha explained the importance of the camp.
KSHEMA Hospital nurse Irene Lobo offered information about health cards.
KSHEMA orthopaedic surgeon Dr Lawrence Mathias, Panir parish council vice-president Michael Lobo, and secretary Satita D’Souza were the chief guests on the occasion.
Stree Sangatan president Evelyn D’Sa, Panir parish school head teacher Sr Triza, Panir parish Catholic Sabha unit president Felix D’Souza, and ICYM president Kishore Ferrao were present on the dais.
Evelyn D’Sa welcomed the gathering. Preetham Noronha compered the programme and Felix D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
