Mangaluru, Mar 22: The CCB police have apprehended an individual involved in the illegal procurement and distribution of prohibited MDMA narcotic drugs from Bengaluru to Mangaluru city and Kerala state, targeting the general public and students.
During the arrest, the police seized 46 grams of MDMA narcotic drugs, with an estimated street value of Rs 2.3 lac. The accused, identified as Abdul Samad, also known as Samad or Chammu (36), a resident of Loretto in Bantwal taluk, was taken into custody.
Acting on specific intelligence, the CCB police intercepted Samad at Nehru Maidan in the city. Alongside the narcotics, digital weighing scales and a mobile phone were confiscated, bringing the total value of seized goods to Rs 2.4 lac.
A case related to this incident has been registered at the CEN police station. Samad has prior cases of POCSO violations and drug trafficking registered against him at Ullal police station. The operation was conducted under the leadership of ACP Geetha Kulkarni of CCB, with the assistance of police inspector Shyam Sundar H M, PSI Sharanappa Bhandary, and other personnel.
