Udupi: PHC Conducts Mass Baby Shower Ceremony in Traditional Manner

Udupi, Oct 1: Under the aegis of zilla panchayat, the district health and family welfare department, National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), Primary Health Centre (PHC) Petri, Cherkady, and Kunjalu gram panchayat, a mass Baby Shower  programme was held here on Friday September 30 to mark ‘Community Health Day’.

MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary inaugurated this unique programme at the community health centre, Petri, on Friday.


Cherkady gram panchayat president Kamalaksha Hebbar presided over the programme.
ZP member Jyoti S Poojary, Kunjalu gram panchayat president Raghuram Shetty, vice-president Raju Kulal, entrepreneur Dhananjay Amin, NRHM officer Dr Nagabhushan, Dr Nagaratna, Karje primary health centre medical officer Dr Surakshit, and Cherkady gram panchayat vice-president Suguna were present on the occasion.

Petri health centre medical officer Dr Suryanarayan welcomed the gathering. Cherkady youth club president Harish Shetty proposed the vote of thanks.  Himaraj explained about the facilities available at the health centre.  Panchayat member Prasanna Prasad Bhat compered the programme.

Over 30 pregnant women participated in the mass Baby Shower ceremony conducted in the traditional manner.
