Mangaluru, March 18: The CCB police have apprehended two men accused of carrying cocaine from Goa to Mangaluru and Kerala and also confiscated 35 grams of cocaine from their possession.
The police team under the leadership of CCB inspector Shyam Sunder H M who on obtaining definite information, arrested the two men accused of selling the drug on a two-wheeler near Eliarpadav ground, Amblamogaru grama, Ullal.
The accused arrested are Sadkat U alias Shan Nawaz (31), a resident of Kolanje Hittu house, Sannamadaka, Amblamogaru, Mangaluru and Mohammed Ashfak alias Ashpa (25), a resident of Senarabettu House, Madaka, Amblamogaru, Mangaluru.
The police have also confiscated a Honda Activa scooter bearing the registration number KA 19 HL 2021, cocaine worth Rs 2,72,000, three mobile phone handsets, a digital weighing scale and Rs 5,560 in cash from the accused. The total value of the goods seized from the accused is Rs 4 lacs.
A case in this connection is registered at Cen police station.
The accused were reportedly buying the drug in Goa and selling it in Karnataka and Kerala for gain. As more men are suspected of involvement in the drug network, police have continued their search operation.
Among the accused, a case of drug peddling and a case of assault had been registered at Konaje police station against Sadakat U alias Shan Nawaz in the past.
CCB unit police inspector Shyam Sunder H M, PSI Sharanappa Bhandary and CCB staff members took part in the arrest operation.
