Udupi, Mar 17: District election officer and deputy commissioner Dr Vidya Kumari K said that political parties should get permission through Suvidha software to hold meetings and other activities related to Lok Sabha elections.
She was addressing a meeting with leaders of various political parties and owners of printers and publishers.
The model code of conduct has been implemented in the district. For public meetings, ceremonies, rallies, mobile vehicles, loudspeakers, helicopters and helipads, permission should be obtained through Suvidha software.
Notification will be issued as per Lok Sabha general election schedule.
The election commission has announced a model code of conduct as part of the Lok Sabha elections, and the political parties should follow the code of conduct implemented by the commission without fail.
Against the backdrop of the implementation of the model code of conduct, vehicles with their party logo, flexes and other political affiliation banners should be removed voluntarily. Political parties should take permission to hold any procession and to organise their meeting ceremonies.
No religious institution, place shall be used for propaganda work. Children below 18 years of age shall not be used for propaganda work. Campaigning for votes cannot be done in weddings, meetings and ceremonies.
In order to conduct the Lok Sabha general election in an impartial and fair manner, all the parties should cooperate with the district administration in conducting the activities as per the directives of the election commission.
According to the rules prescribed by the election commission, the owner of the printing press who prints the pamphlet related to the election must submit the declaration to the district MCMC committee within three days.
Printer's name, printing numbers must be mentioned in the printed booklet without mistake. The cost of printing should also be given.
The contents of the pamphlet should not be hateful, abusive, defamatory or cause disturbance of peace in the society, insult and defaming of any religion, etc.
If the printer prints leaflets and promotes advertisements in violation of the model code of conduct, strict legal action will be taken against such persons under the RP Act.
In the meeting, superintendent of police Dr Arun K, assistant deputy commissioner Mamatadevi, district information officer Manjunath, education officer Ashok Kamath, leaders of various political parties, printing press owners and others were present.
