Udupi, Mar 17: Deputy Commissioner Dr K Vidyakumari provided updates on the progress of the ongoing construction projects, stating that the Santhekatte Flyover is anticipated to be completed in August. Despite challenges posed by morning traffic, construction workers have made significant progress. However, plastering work has been hindered by the continuous movement of vehicles, necessitating a shift to night-time operations.
Regarding the Indrali Railway Work, DC Vidyakumari mentioned that painting of the girders is currently underway, although additional painting is necessary due to ongoing coating processes. Concerns were raised about individuals attempting to relocate barricades, potentially disrupting the construction process.
Both the district administration and the railway department have provided assurances regarding the completion timeline. It is projected that the works will be fully open for traffic by the end of March, with the National Highway authorities estimating completion by April or May.
Furthermore, officials stated that if the National Highway authorities initiate work promptly, the construction could be completed within 20-25 days. The project is estimated to cost Rs 9.5 crore, with expectations that the bridge will be handed over to the public by the end of March.
