CAA against minorities, Sri Lankan Tamils living in camps; will not be implemented in state: Stalin

Chennai, Mar 12 (IANS): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Tuesday said that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) will not be implemented in the state, claiming that it was against minorities as well as Sri Lankan Tamils living in camps here.

The rules for the CAA were notified by the Union Government on Monday.

Stalin, in a statement, said that it was his government's opinion that the CAA was totally unnecessary and must be rescinded, adding that his government would not allow its implementation as it opposed any legislation against the unity of India.

"The rules notified for the Act by the Union government not only go against the basic structure of the Constitution but are also against the welfare of Indian people, the multi-dimensional character of India and its secular character," he said, citing the Assembly‘s resolution on September 8, 2021, against the CAA.

Stalin also said that people think that the CAA has been notified at present, keeping in mind the ensuing Lok Sabha elections and also to divert attention from the electoral bonds issue.

Dear Friends, I am strictly against the BJP lies and Jumlas even though I had supported them in 2014.I do not want them to win again and destroy this nation. However the scrapping of article 370 is a good decision they took and with regards to POK it is still an integral part of India. The CAA is not against muslims of India or its minorities.pakistan and Sri lanka are in good terms so Muslims can come from either countries and with that an influx of terrorists. If CAA gives permission to Muslims from other countries no one can imagine the destruction that could happen. So BJP is right this time.

..there must be difference between prosecuted, highly prosecuted and severley prosecuted..you cant bring all, otherwise you may have to go out eventually..Hindus christians sikhs are severely prosecuted categories..their number dwindled to below 1% post partition..they are endangered species, so its our responsibility to bring back them who stayed back when partition made on religious basis..they beieved they will be protected..by the way, states cant do anything on CAA as Citizenship rights under central govts same like Defence , railways etc,.

There is no need to amend existing citizenship law for refugees since India has given citizenship to refugees with existing law in the past, so what more is in your mind to further amend that law?????….But why aren’t muslims not included in your amended law if they are persecuted in thier country for opposing thier country’ s rule just in India Hindus are against BJP’s Hitler rule?????…..BTW, why have you opened detention centres?????…..
