Kundapura, Mar 10: Fisheries and Ports minister Mankal Vaidya said the state government will implement the Bande Salu project due to scarcity of fish in the sea with the objective of conserving marine fish.
He was speaking to journalists on his arrival at a compensation disbursement programme held at the Gangolli port area on Sunday, March 10.
He said that starting from the process of breeding fish in the sea until the fish become strong, a fish conservation project will be launched by constructing artificial reefs in the sea from about 5 meters deep to 10 meters deep for the protection of marine fish.
He said that this kind of barricading project has been successful in Kerala and Tamil Nadu which will soon be implemented in the state as well.
All kinds of works including the Gangolli jetty are being carried out quickly. He said as the investigation is in the court there is some delay.
He said, “No one should fear about the security of the country's coastline. Coastal security of the country is being carried out by our fishermen till today."
