Beltangady, Feb 20: In a significant development, the court has acquitted Shankara Gowda, also known as Veerappa Gowda, in connection with an acid attack that occurred on September 27, 1995.
Shankara Gowda was residing in a rented house owned by Ganesh Prabhu, son of Manjunatha Prabhu, a resident of Ujire. Reports suggest that Shankara Gowda's wife used to perform household work at Ganesh Prabhu's residence. It is alleged that Shankara Gowda threw acid on Ganesh Prabhu following the removal of his wife from her duties by Ganesh Prabhu.
Subsequently, the police arrested Shankara Gowda and presented him in court. After a lengthy trial involving witness testimonies, the court has acquitted the accused, Shankara Gowda, in this case.
