Mangaluru, Feb 18: Under the auspices of Catholic Sabha Mangalore, in collaboration with various inquiry centers, commissions, and organizations in Mangaluru South region, a Lenten pilgrimage walk was organized from Our Lady of Mercy in Paneer Ullal to St Joseph Vaz Shrine in Mudipu.
During the Lenten season, thousands of Catholic Christians are expected to participate in this pilgrimage as a means to transform their lives, seeking God's grace through sacrifices and noble deeds. Allwyn D'Souza Paneer, president of the Catholic Sabha Mangalore Central Assembly, addressed the delegates, recalling the spiritual significance of the miracles during St Joseph Vaz's examination at Mudipu Hill four centuries ago, emphasizing that today's devotees are retracing the saint's footsteps.
The walk was inaugurated by Fr Victor D'Mello of Paneer Church under the leadership of Allwyn D'Souza. Assisi Rebello, spiritual director of Saint Joseph Vaz Shrine, Fr Edward Monis, spiritual director of the southern zone, and Reverend John Vaz of Fajir Church also took part in the program. The event witnessed the participation of several nuns, priests, and devoted followers.
