Hover plans to sell 100,000 Nissan cars


Chennai, Sep 22 (IANS) Hover Automotive India Pvt Ltd, the distribution company for Japanese car maker Nissan, said it planned to touch sales figure of 100,000 units in two years.

"We are working on detailed plan for 2012-13 now. What I can say is that in two years time, we will touch a sales volume of 100,000 units. For the current fiscal, our target is to sell 40,000 Nissan cars," Hover Automotive's chief executive officer Dinesh Jain told IANS.

By 2015, Nissan Motor India will offer eight models, of which three will be imported and five will be locally made at its plant near here, Jain said after launching Nissan's new sedan Sunny.

Asked about Nissan's plans to acquire a stake in Hover, he said: "It is a speculative report and I cannot comment on that."

He said diesel version of Sunny will be launched in the future.

Speaking about the company's first model Micra, Kiminobu Tokuyama, managing director of Nissan Motor India, said: "We are satisfied with the sales performance of Micra. We are in the process of ramping up our dealer network. When that happens Micra sales will go up further."

He said by March 2012 there will be 60 Nissan dealers in India from the current 45.
