Kundapur, Jan 30: On Martyr Mahatma Gandhi's day, Sauharda Karnataka Vedike and allied organizations orchestrated a extensive human chain for communal harmony along both sides of NH66 at Shirur, Byndoor, Maravanthe, and Trasi.
Addressing the mass gathering at Shastri circle, Professor Molahalli Dinesh Hegde, retired principal of Sharada College, praised the commendable effort of proclaiming the message of harmony by joining hands.
"Human beings have embraced harmony since ancient times. Campaigns following the path of Basavanna and the silent revolution of Narayana Guru have progressed for an extended period. Mahatma Gandhi has fought for the entry of exploited groups into temples and to eliminate differences of color and sex," he remarked.
Representatives from Muslim Okkoota Dalit Sangharsha Samithi, Dalit Sangharsha Samithi, Bheema Gharjane Samudaya, Catholic Sabha, Janawadi Mahila Sanghatane, DYFI Vedike, Karnataka Muslim Jamathe Adivasi Hakkugala Vedike participated in the event. Chandrashekar of Karnataka Vedike served as the programme's compere, and Suresh Kallapu proposed a vote of thanks.
