Udupi: All religion blood donation camp held to foster communal harmony

Udupi, Jan 28: A self-motivated huge blood donations camp that was organized under the aegis of various organizations and led by Sarva Dharma Souharda Samiti was held on Republic Day at the auditorium of Sri Gajanana Yakshagana Kala Sangha.

Fr Denis D’Sa, parish priest of St Anns church Thottam, Shashidhar M Amin, Dr Veena Kumari, Sri Ramesh Tingalaya, Srinivas, Praveen and Ramappa Salian were present.

Ramesh Tingalaya welcomed the guests. He also conveyed the aim of the blood donation camp. Fr Denis D’Sa said, “We, who have gathered here, serve in various fields of professions. However, the colour of our blood is the same. Probably god gave the same colour and composition of blood in order to save mankind. There is no danger in donating blood.”

Dr Veena Kumar conveyed the importance of blood donation and explained the benefits of blood donation to the body of a human being. Shashidhar M Amin appreciated Fr Denis D’Sa for his efforts to bring people of all religions of society together.

Pastor Edwin Joseph of CSI Ebenezer church Malpe also spoke on the occasion and donated blood also. District hospital distributed certificates to all the blood donors.

Secretary of committee Sri Leslie Aroza compered the event.
