Mangalore, Sep 18: Out of the six fishermen who went missing in the Arabian Sea due to boat mishap, the body of one was found in the deep sea. But there is no clue about the other five yet.
The coast guard officials who were involved in the search operations were able to recover the body of one fisherman deep in the sea around 8 pm on Saturday September 17. The officials, who were unable to trace the identity of the fisherman, carried his body towards Bunder.
It can be recalled that due to the roughness of the sea, the boat Ocean Fisher-2 had hit a sunken ship losing its balance and the fishermen who were in the boat were thrown into water. The boat was waiting near Alive Bagilu for safe return but due to high waves it became the victim to disaster.
Use of Life Jackets
The fishermen usually will be provided life jackets by the fisheries department for their safety. But it is noticed that very few fishermen make use of these jackets. Some fishermen themselves have agreed that they don’t wear them.
The department has stressed that at least in future they need to be cautious and wear the life jackets while venturing into the sea to avoid such disasters.
