Udupi, Sep 17: Manipal Institute of Management (MIM) conducted a two-day National seminar on ‘Holistic Management’ on Thursday and Friday September 15, 16 at the MIM campus.
The inaugural function began with the lighting of the lamp and a brief introduction about holistic management by Prof Nandan Prabhu.
The chief guest of the occasion Prof N S Ramaswamy, founder director of IIM-B gave an overview on ethical and moral values of life in management. Subsequently Dr K Ramanarayan, vice chancellor of Manipal University delivered his presidential address.
The inaugural function was followed by talks on various topics like ethical and moral values in management science, ancient Indian wisdom, Indian ethos from Bhagavad Gita by the resource persons namely Prof N S Ramaswamy, Dr R C Sastry and Dr Ashok H Chachadi.
Prof R C Ramaswamy spoke about ethics and morals that should be implemented, which is missing in almost every individual today. He stressed upon a harmonious work environment which will help in the growth of humans-the most important part of any organization. He highlighted the fact of how lucky we are to have taken birth as humans and also as Indians, as it is only in India that the values that existed 50,000 years ago are still practiced. He advised everyone to have religious tolerance as no religion is less than the other, to have gratitude towards everything including the air that we breathe, the planet that we live upon etc.
On Friday September 16, the seminar was on Indian ethos from Chanakya Neeti and Ramayana for present day management, value based management, change management etc., by the resource persons.
Prof P Ramakrishna Chadaga, director of MIM welcomed the dignitaries. Other resource persons invovling Dr M V Kamath, director of Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC) and former chairman of Prasar Bharathi, Dr R C Sastry, chief consultant of Stony Carter, Dr Ashok H Chachadi, director of Kousali Institute of Management Studies, corporates from various organisations, professors and also students from various institutions were present.
