Mangaluru, Jan 23: UTTAR DAKSHIN, the renowned classical music series of concerts is back to enthrall the music lovers of Mangalore. VIVID ARTS, Mumbai in association with Sangeet Bharati Foundation, Mangalore is hosting the 13th edition at Mangalore on Sunday, the 28th January at Ravindra Kala Bhavan, University College, Hampankatta from 5.30 pm onwards.
Uttar Dakshin has had 12 magical years and has been one of the favourite concerts for classical music lovers contributing to the regional harmony in North and South India with two different forms of music. The 13th edition of the concert is being organized as a part of 6 cities tour at Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Ranchi and now at Mangalore.
Concerts and musical programmes can best be defined by the relationship between the performer and the audience. A performance is a process of transformation of strong emotions which is created by active participation of both performers and audience. What the performer emotes, the audience perceive it.
The life size stage, the colourful backdrop, the artist’s performance, lighting, sound and the space in the concert hall, all seem so sacred. It’s like seeing God perform in a temple. The presence of our favourite artists and their live performances give the concerts vigour and energy.
It’s time for us to invite the doyens of classical music fraternity to our city and have them perform live for us.
The upcoming series of UTTAR DAKSHIN is a unique combination of a violin duet by Vidwan Mysore Nagraj and Dr M Manjunath accompanied by Vidwan Arjun Kumar on mridangam and Vidwan Giridhar Udupa on the ghatam. This will be followed by a vocal recital by the renowned vocalist and Padmashree awardee Pandit Venkatesh Kumar accompanied by Sri Narendra L Nayak on Harmonium and Sri Keshav Joshi on tabla.
This series of Uttar Dakshin will be a celebration of kinds as these renowned artists of two different forms are set to treat the audience with unique styles of their own. The programme begins at 5.30 PM at Ravindra Kala Bhavan, University college, Hampankatta and the artists will take us on a musical journey for the rest of the evening. The programme is open to all music enthusiasts. The Vice President of Sangeet Bharati Foundation Prof Narendra L Nayak has extended a special welcome and invited all music enthusiasts to be a part of this programme.
