Bengaluru, Jan 23: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah praised Subhas Chandra Bose as a great nationalist and freedom fightger, Garlanding the statue of Bose on his 127 birth anniversary, the Chief Minister said Bose had involved himself fully in the freedom struggle as the then Congress president.
However, he and Mahatma Gandhi had ideological differences on the path of the freedom struggle and they parted company, Siddaramaiah said.
The Chief Minister said Bose respected Gandhiji and nobody can deny his contribution to the freedom struggle.
Bose launched his own Indian National Army to carry forward the freedom struggle and unfortunately was killed in an air accident in Japan.
The Chief Minister said the ideals and the struggle of Bose is a beacon of hope for the entire country and called upon people to follow his example in dedicating themselves for the progress of the country.
