Bellary: Rs 4.95 Crore Seized from Reddy Truck
Bellary/Hyderabad, Sep 16 (DHNS): Further thickening the illegal mining plot, the Guntkal police in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday seized Rs 4.95 crore cash when it was being transported in a lorry from Bellary to Hyderabad.
Four persons including the driver and cleaner of the vehicle, Eshwara Reddy and Venkatarama Reddy of Kadapa, who were in the lorry, have been arrested. According to the police, the huge sum was found in the truck during the checking of vehicles on the outskirts of Guntkal. Investigations are on to find out the source and destination of the cash.
Speaking to Deccan Herald, Dr Chandra Gupta, Superintendent of Police said the Bellery police had information about the cash being transported. However, before they could start investigation, the lorry had crossed Andhra Pradesh border.
According to police sources, the Guntkal police will be in the city with the arrested persons to gather more information.
According to the source, he is also close to Srinivas Reddy, Managing Director of OMC(Obulapuram Mines Company).
During the recent raids on the residences of BUDA President Gurulingana Gowda and Bhaskara Reddy, a relative of Janardana Reddy, the CBI had also intended to raid Venkatarama Reddy’s residence. However, it had to drop the plan as his address was not available.
The lorry, allegedly owned by Gali’s OMC, is from Poddatooru in Kadapa district where the relatives of the arrested Janardana Reddy and Srinivas Reddy reside.
The AP police, acting on the advice of the investigation agency, have been keeping an eye on the vehicular movement emanating from Bellary in Karnataka into the state. The cash stashed in three black travel bags was being transported in a truck (AP 04 X 9009) at Hanuman X roads in Guntakal.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the truck is registered in Kadapa and belongs to Poddutooru town.
