Mangalore, Sep 14: Immaculate Nazareth, teacher of Pompeii Higher Primary School, Gurpur parish, bagged the district’s ‘Best Teacher Award–2011’ from the state education department.
Fifty-five-year-old Nazareth has been teaching at Pompeii Higher Primary School for 28 years.
She did her T Ch from St Ann’s Teachers Training Institute, Rosario, and began her teaching career on July 15, 1976 at St Sebastian’s Higher Primary School, Hospet, where she had done her early studies.
Nazareth married Cyprian Concesso, a parishioner of Kulshekar, on December 7, 1981. She has served on the Kulshekar parish council for 13 years and is actively involved in parish activities as well as staging plays and directing them during the annual day celebrations.
