Kasargod, Sep 13: “Earnest efforts should be made to record the cultural hierarchy of the entire region for posterity,” said Professor M A Rehman, national award winning documentary director and social thinker.
He was speaking at the ‘muhurat’ of a documentary on the city-based Gopalakrishna Yakshagana Bombeyata Sangh, the puppet show engaged in promoting Yakshagana.
“Kasargod district is rich in nature’s bounty that has nurtured the cultural hierarchy of the region for long. The rivers, backwater, forts, and religious practices are unique, hence the need to work towards posterity,” emphasised Prof Rehman.
The screen script of the documentary is by M Na Chambaltimar and the cameramen are Vasu Parekatte and Vishak.
Gopalakrishna Yakshagana Bombeyata Sangh director K V Ramesh’s mother Girija Venkatakrishnayya, puppet show artistes Dr Omprakash K V, Tirumalesh K V, Sudarshan K V, Kumaraswamy, and Chandrashekar V were present on the occasion. K V Ramesh welcomed the gathering.
