Uttar Pradesh, Dec 25: The newspaper headlines featuring the achievements of IAS toppers served as a catalyst for Gaurav Tripathi's aspiration to become an IAS officer. Hailing from Gorakhpur, Gaurav's father managed a general store, but Gaurav's academic brilliance led him to pursue B Tech at IIT Roorkee. It was during his engineering studies that he stumbled upon a newspaper detailing the accomplishments of IAS toppers, motivating him to take on the formidable UPSC examination.
Gaurav's UPSC preparation wasn't haphazard; he focused on NCERT textbooks and prioritized solving questions swiftly. Despite encountering setbacks in his initial two attempts, Gaurav persisted. Opting for the Hindi medium in IAS presented challenges due to limited resources, but he remained resolute. In his fourth attempt, Gaurav triumphed over the hurdles, securing an impressive All India Rank of 226.
The journey wasn't solely academic; Gaurav faced personal challenges, including a significant weight gain of 101 kg. With the support of his family and brothers, he diligently worked to shed 16 kg in just three months, emphasizing the crucial role of mental and physical health in exam success.
Gaurav found inspiration in his girlfriend, who became a pillar of support throughout his journey. To bolster his finances, he established the UPSC Hindi 4 CS channel. Reflecting on his experience, Gaurav asserts that the UPSC journey is reserved for those who possess dedication, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to the ultimate goal.
