Udupi, Dec 20: Deputy commissioner (DC) Dr K Vidya Kumari underscored the need for expeditious completion and high-quality standards in ongoing national highway projects during a progress review meeting held at the deputy commissioner's auditorium, Rajatadri, on December 19. Dr Kumari directed national highway division engineers to prioritize the upgradation of highways to prevent inconvenience to the public.
She specifically addressed the challenges related to land acquisition for the construction and widening of highways from Karavali Bypass to Malpe, urging swift resolution through coordination between department officials and national highways. Expressing dissatisfaction with the delay in completing the Indrali bridge work, the DC warned of legal action against officials for future delays causing traffic obstacles and accidents.
Concerns were also raised about the slow progress and quality of work at the Santhekatte underpass road, prompting the deputy commissioner to call for increased attention from contractors and engineers to ensure timely completion.
MLA Sunil Kumar emphasized the necessity of a service road at NH66 in front of Sanoor gram panchayat, urging its prioritized implementation. He also called for the expedited completion of the bridge work near Sanoor to alleviate hardships for the public. The meeting was attended by DSP Dr Arun K, municipal commissioner Rayappa, NHAI project director Abdulla Mohammed Azmi, contractors, and other stakeholders.
