Bangalore, Sep 7: The State government, on Tuesday, appointed chairpersons to four academies and directors to Ragayana in Mysore, Shimoga and Dharwad.
Prof Samaga and Chinna
They are prof M Lakshminarayana Samaga, Karnataka Yakshagana Bayalata Academy, Kasargod Chinna (Srinivas Rao S), Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy; Vyjayanti Kashi, Karnataka Sangeeta Nrutya Academy; Malati Sudhir, Karnataka Nataka Academy, B V Rajaram, Mysore Rangayana; H N Satyanarayana, Shimoga Rangayana; Enagi Nataraj, Dharwad Rangayana.
The tenure of the chairpersons and the directors is three years.
M Lakshminarayana Samaga
Samaga, well-known yakshagana artiste of Tenku and Badaguthittu forms, finesse in bayalata and talamaddale and retired principal has been elected as president of Karnataka Yakshagana Bayalata Academy.
He served as English teacher for 40 long years and also served as a principal of Udupi MGM College for 3 years. He is presently a guest lecturer in the PG department of Udupi Tenkanidiyur Government College.
Being the son of ace yakshagana artiste Shankaranarayana Samaga, professor Lakshminarayana Samaga has over 35 years of experience in the Yakshagana field.
He has worked with renowned yakshagana artistes including Raghuram Holla, Dinesh Ammannaya, Kumble Sundar Rao, Puttur Sridar Bhandary among others. He has performed at various places including Bangalore, Mysore, Mumbai, Kolkatta, Delhi, Chennai, He has a rare achievement of performing at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Delhi, Italy, Bahrain and Singapore.
He also received several honours to his kitty for his extraordinary service in the field of Yakshagana.
Kasargod Chinna
For his significant contribution to the development of Konkani language, literature and culture Stage artiste and film actor Chinna has been appointed as president of Konkani Sahitya Academy.
Chinna has director and acted in several Konkani dramas including ‘Dhoni Gadi Hasunu Kaadi’, , Jackpot Janna, Shanthi Nivasa, Choru Guru Chandala Shishyu, Ganti among others.
Initiating the Konkani Sahitya Academy programmes at Kasargod, Chinna has recently directed a Konkani Cinema ‘Ujjadu’ which will be released soon.
