Udupi, Dec 9: The convocation ceremony of the first batch of BSc nursing, 41st batch of GNM and 3rd batch of DMLT of Lombard memorial hospital group of institutions was held on December 9 at the Basel Missionaries auditorium herein Mission Compound, Udupi.
Dr Sharath Kumar Rao, pro vice chancellor health sciences MAHE was the chief guest for the convocation ceremony. He was accompanied by Dr Hemachandra Kumar, bishop CSI KSD Dr Sushil Jattanna, director Lombard memorial hospital Dr Suja Karkada, principal Lombard memorial college of nursing Veena Mathias, principal Lombard school of nursing Dr Roshan Pais, principal Allied health sciences and paramedical college Ivan D Soans, area chairman.
Addressing the graduates Dr Hemachandra Kumar, bishop CSI KSD said, “This is a historical moment in the history of Lombard group of institutions. Today these graduates will walk out of this campus with an intention to serve the community. I congratulate all the graduates on this occasion. We at Lombard memorial hospital group of institutions always believe in teaching, preaching and healing principals. Our hospital not only provides healthcare but also stands for these values. Our graduates will take forward these principles. These graduates will teach, preach and heal the patients in the community. Lombard Memorial hospital and its group of institutions training is well recognized in the healthcare sector. Dr Susheel Jattanna under his able guidance and farsightedness is trying to provide the best facilities for the students.”
In his chief guest address, Dr Sharath Kumar Rao, pro vice chancellor, health sciences MAHE said, “Today all are being graduated with a hope of better tomorrow and you have a great journey ahead. Nursing is not just a profession. It involves compassion. The service one does is an area where one can change lives. One should adopt values like compassion, integrity and commitment in the profession. Skills and knowledge can elevate students to greater heights. One have reached this stage after facing a lot of challenges while getting education. Similarly, more challenges have to be faced in this world. Also, students have to prepare for all that and build your life.”
Dr Sushil Jattana, director of the hospital, presided. Merit award was presented to meritorious students on this occasion. Ivan D Soans said the prayers. Malathi preached the pledge of allegiance. Dr Suja Karkada read the annual report. Dr BN Peralaya welcomed. Dr Sweena Pramod introduced the guests. Dr Roshan Pais presented vote of thanks.
