Mangalore, Sep 5: Teacher's day is observed every year as a mark of respect to Servepalli Radhakrishnan and all dedicated Teacher's in the country.
Immaculate Conception Church Kinnigoli Celebrated Teacher's Day at the Church Hall in advance on Sunday september 4. Catholic Sabha Kinnigoli Unit organized this programme.
Fr Alfred J Pinto presided over the programe. Fr Michael Mascarenhas, assistant parish priest, Fr Johnson D'Souza, a parishioner presently serving in Bangalore as a Somascan Father, Vincent D'Souza , lecturer in Padubidri Governmet P U College were the chief guests.
Sharing his experience as a teacher Vincent D' Souza called upon the teacher's to become a role-model in the society. Teachers while they are efficient in their service they should ethically and socially train the students. Due to Globalisation some of the students have forgotten their culture. While teaching them the lession in the school teachers sholud train them regarding the culture and soil of the motherland, he stressed.
He adviced the teachers to run with the students because in today's competitive world teachers should be up to date with their lession.
Remembering his teacher's who thought him in the primary school Fr Alfred Pinto adviced the teacher's to touch the students with love and effection. He adviced the teachers to teach students to love their country and countrymen. While congratulating the teacher's he thanked them for studying the cathecism classes to the students on sundays in the church.
Mary D'Souza, who served as a teacher for the last 25years and now retired was felicitated. All the teachers who participated in the programme were honoured with a rose. Catholic Sabha, Kinnigoli Unit president Ivy Aranha present on the dias. Valerian Sequeira, welcomed the guests and teachers. Eric Pais proposed the vote of thanks and compered the programme.
