Udupi, Sep 5: District-in-charge minister Dr V S Acharya offered ‘Bhagina’ to Swarna River, a drinking water resource for Udupi district and Karkala taluk in Dakshina Kannada district, at Simbra temple on Sunday September 4.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the state administration has plans to develop areas along the banks of Swarna River. “Meanwhile, plans will be chalked out to develop bathing points at nearby Simbra temple for the benefit of innumerable devotees in co-ordination with minor irrigation department, town municipality, and public works department.
The funds will be allocated in mid-term budget to construct the Aroor – Belmaru Swarna Madital Bridge, a long pending demand of the locals. The state planning officer will be instructed to carry out the survey on the route of the bridge and will be announced by chief minister D V Sadanand Gowda when he will arrive in the district to inaugurate the newly-built district headquarters in a month,” added Dr Acharya.
“Plans are underway to extend the drinking water supply to the people residing in Kolalgiri village under the multi-village water scheme,” added Dr Acharya.
MLA Raghupati Bhat, DC Dr Reju, ZP president Katpady Shankar Poojary, MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary, TP president Devdas Hebbar, town councillor Kiran Kumar, deputy councillor Bharati Chandrashekar, council member Ramesh Nayak, ZP CEO Prabhakar Sharma, Tahsildar Prasanna Kumar, municipal commissioner Gokuldas Nayak, public works department engineer Chandrashekar, and local elder Vasudev Bhat were present on the occasion.
