Gurugram, Dec 3 (IANS): A seven-day cleanliness campaign is underway in Gurugram during which hundreds of tonnes of garbage has been collected, Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) officials said.
Under the campaign, which began on Saturday, 52 teams of MCG are engaged in full capacity in different areas with adequate manpower, machinery, and other resources.
Municipal Commissioner PC Meena went on surprise inspection in different areas of the city and gave necessary directions to the teams present on the spot.
During the campaign, about 800 tonnes of garbage, 1000 tonnes of Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste, and 100 trolleys of horticulture waste has been collected so far. Under the campaign, a target has been set to improve the cleanliness system of the entire city in seven days.
The MCG has also issued three helpline WhatsApp numbers for complaints related to garbage (7290097521) C&D waste ( 7290088127) and horticulture waste (7290076135).
During the first day of the campaign, the citizens sent 41 complaints through WhatsApp, which were resolved by the concerned teams by taking immediate action.
"The garbage lifting work has also been started. We will not tolerate hindrance during the campaign under any circumstances. Legal action will be initiated those disrupt cleaning work in Gurugram," the MCG Commissioner said.
