New Delhi, Nov 29: The Journalist Association of India hosted the 29th JAI Global Awards at a well-attended function at Maharashtra Sadan, recently. Sunil D’Cruz was presented the Print Journalist of the Year – NRI award, by the chief guest, K G Balakrishnan, former chief justice of India, H K Sethi, chairman, Journalist Association of India and T P Agarwal, patron, Film Federation of India and IMPPA.
Sunil D’Cruz has written on a wide range of topics ranging from social issues, music, tourism and sports, for the Khaleej Times, Dubai, UAE and The Peninsula, Qatar. Since 1994, he has also covered a wide range of events such as Rembrandt in Oman (an exhibition of the original works of the great artist), 'Rest Upon the Wind' - An English play on the life and times of Khalil Gibran and 'Dear Liar' - An English play adapted from the correspondence of George Bernard Shaw and Patrick Stella Campbell, featuring Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah, for the Oman Daily Observer and the Times of Oman.

Sunil D’Cruz is the son of late Alfred D’Cruz, who was at the editorial desk of The Times of India, Mumbai, from 1947 to 1982. After his retirement as chief sub-editor, he continued with the Times of India Groupas the editor of India’s best comprehensive reference book: ‘The Times of India Directory and Year Book 1984', including ‘Who’s Who in India,’ featuring prominent personalities. The book was listed among the best in the Directory of Directories, Michigan, U S A and soon became a best seller in India, US, UK and Europe. Alfred D’Cruz was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award posthumously by the Journalist Association of India in 2012.
