Mumbai, Nov 21: Konkani Bhasha Mandal, one of the oldest organizations of Mumbai held All India Konkani drama competitions at Saraswati Mandir High school auditorium, Tulsi Pipe Road, Mahim here on November 19.

Former president of Konkani Bhasha Mandal, John D’ Silva was the Chief guest. Looking at the details of the programme he appreciated for holding the Konkani drama competitions in Mumbai and wished the
participants well.

General secretary of the organization, Lawrence D’ Souza welcomed the gathering and gave details of service in dramatics by G M B Rodrigues.

He said that they have been trying to hold such drama competitions for sometime and their dream is realized. He expressed satisfaction to act under the directions of G M B and to publish his drama ‘Bhuinkap’ in the form of a book. Leo Fernandes Jerimeri compered the entire programme. Co-secretary John R Pereira, Antony Fernandes, treasurer Melwin Fernandes and Rosario Antony Fernandes had worked hard for the programme.

Ashirwad Kala Kendra Azgaon from Sindhudurg performed ‘Hanv Tuzoch’ drama, Vasaichin Taran from Vasai performed ‘Ghuspond Gondol’, Mira Road Hasmukh Taran performed ‘Driver Zavoin’, Urbest Kalakar, Borivili enacted ‘Mestri’, play, Vakola stars performed ‘Pradryabacho Kombo’ play. Plays were good and were challenging for the judges. Abe Fizardo, Mingel Martins, Anthony Kindla and Peter Rebeiro were the
judges.

‘Mestri’, the play by Urbest Kalakar bagged first prize, ‘Hanv Tuzoch’ by Ashirvad Kala Kendra was presented second prize and ‘Ghuspod Gondol’ was awarded the third prize.

Prize of the best author was presented to Clarence Pinto, Padil. Best director - Silvia Fernandes, best actor – Wilson Kishore D’ Sa, best actress – Prencencia Patric D’ Souza, best comedy actor – Joel
Rodrigues, best costumes – James Wilson Rodrigues and Best Make up - Wilson Kishore D’ Sa. Prizes were presented at the end of the programme.
