Mandya, Aug 30: Five employees of survey department working at Nagamangala were arrested by the policemen on Monday August 29, on the basis of a complaint lodged by Pandavapura assistant commissioner, G Prabhu, on behalf of the district deputy commissioner, Dr P C Jaffer. The employees face charges of tampering original land records and hiding government records at their homes, to facilitate encroachment of government and grazing lands etc. They also face the allegation of dereliction of duty.
The arrested persons have been identified as B R Jagadish, an employee of ‘Bhoomi’ facilitation centre, land surveyors, Ramachandra from Bindiganavile revenue division, Shankar from Honakere revenue division, Subrahmanyachar from Casba revenue division, and Malle Gowda belonging to Devalapura revenue division. Srinivasamurthy, surveyor attached to the revenue department, has gone underground. The policemen are trying to locate his whereabouts.
On being produced in a court here on Monday, all the five employees were remanded to judicial custody. District deputy commissioner, Jaffer, and assistant commissioner of Pandavapura, G Prabhu, who also happens to be the inquiry officer in this case, had visited the taluk office on Friday and Saturday, to investigate about numerous complaints of irregularities received against the officials. They not only found large scale alternations and omissions, but also that a number of files had gone missing from the office. They then raided residences of certain employees and recovered files from there.
All the five employees, immediately upon learning that cases are being filed against them, had got admitted into hospital. Police circle inspector, T D Raju, intervened in the matter, and got them discharged from the hospital, before arresting them.
