Bengaluru, Nov 14: Former Chief Minister and JD(S) State President H D Kumaraswamy has ‘confessed’ that the private contractor, who had been entrusted with Deepavali lighting decorations in his home had taken power connection from the roadside street BESCOM poles, which he got removed soon after realising the blunder.
In social media posts, Kumaraswamy said he had entrusted the lighting decorations in his home to a private contractor and had left for his farmhouse in Bidadi. “When I returned in the night from the Bidadi farmhouse, I realised that the power connection was taken from the roadside BESCOM poles and I immediately got it removed,’’ he said.
The JD(S) leader said he admits the mistake by the private contractor and asked the BESCOM officials to immediately visit his house and levy whatever charges and fines. “I will pay the amount,’’ he said asking his opponents not to make the incident into a big political slugfest.
“I regret the mistake. I have not looted the State property nor fenced other people’s properties illegally. I am ready for facing whatever steps the BESCOM officials suggest,’’ he added.
Kumaraswamy criticised Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for his comments against the faulty implementation of the Congress government’s guarantees and demanded a white paper on the issue.
“I stand by my comments. The guarantees have not reached the people. I am ready for a public debate at any place and time,’’ he said and explained that he has no grievance against the guarantees.
