Udupi, Nov 13: The Adani owned Adani Power Limited – Udupi TPP, which is operating thermal power plant in Yellur village, Kaup taluk, in tandem with its CSR wing Adani Foundation, unveiled infrastructure works in the limits of Padubidri gram panchayat for the benefit of society.
Renovation of a public toilet located in Padubidri town and developments to crematorium located in Kanchinadka village are the works that were undertaken by Adani Foundation under its CSR at a cost of around Rs 15 lacs. The facilities were inaugurated jointly by Kishore Alva, president & executive director of Adani and Shashikala, president of Padubidri gram panchayat, and made available for usage to the society.
The condition of public toilet located in the Padubidri was in a bad shape and public was unable to utilize the facility. Based on demand by the public, Padubidri gram panchayat, in its general meeting, considered to include this work under the CSR Action Plan of Adani Foundation. Accordingly Adani Foundation got the required development works executed and made the condition of the toilet usable by the public. Similarly, teh crematorium located in Kanchinadka village was also developed by Adani Foundation under its CSR, as per panchayat’s yearly action plan.
Kishore Alva informed that Adani has earmarked separate CSR grants for infrastructure development works in 7 Grama Panchayats, surrounding the power plant. Every year Adani Foundation executes the development works based on the annual action plan provided by respective GPs. He also told that since the time Udupi power plant has come into the threshold of Adani, it has executed development works worth Rs.1.55 crores in the jurisdiction of Padubidri GP.
Later Shashikala, president of Padubidri GP, spoke and told that Padubidri is the biggest panchayat in Kaup taluk and expressed gratitude to Adani Foundation for extending the CSR benefits to their Panchayat,
