Mangalore: Voluntary Cleaning Service by Amritanandamayi Devotees

Mangalore, Aug 29: Under the ‘Amala Bharatham’ project undertaken by Mata Amritanandamayi Mutt all over India, which is aimed at achieving hygienic and clean environment, the devotees of ‘Amma’ did voluntary service at the Central Railway Station and Hampankatta signal area apart from taluk panchayat road, to clear up garbage and other waste from the areas and roadsides.
The cleaning campaign was inaugurated by station master, N Chandran, in front of the Central Railway Station. Members of Railway Station Auto Rickshaw Drivers Association and staff of railway health centre also joined hands with the volunteers to clear the area of waste, litter, and debris.
The campaign was jointly undertaken by SDM College of Business Management, Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College, teachers and students of Amrita Vidyalayam, and members of Mata Amritanandamayi Seva Samiti. The team was led by Brahmacharini Mangalamrita Chaitanya.
Organizing president of ‘Amala Bharatham Camp’, Dr Jeevaraj Sorake, president of the Seva Samiti, Dr Y Sanat Hegde, chief convener, Vishwanath Putran, conveners, N G Mohan, Ravi Uchchil, Sudhakar Bhat etc worked for the success of the campaign.
