Beltangady, Nov 11: A herd of wild elephants entered farm lands at Kalmanja village of the taluk and destroyed standing crop.
The pachyderms entered the farm land of Ganada Kottige Gangadhara Gowda and tramples plantain and palm trees. Locals got together and chases the elephants away.
The elephants also destroyed more than 30 plantain trees of Berke Prashanta Kakatkar. Locals burst crackers and scared them away. It is suspected that the herd has three elephants.
Paddy crop was completely destroyed by the elephants in the fields belonging to Devadas Banajalu.
Wild elephants were seen roaming fearlessly on the Jalsoor-Kasargod main road on the morning of Friday. Two bike riders got scared. The video has gone viral on social media.
