Muscat, Oct 26: Oman’s undivided Mangalurean coastal Konkani speaking community and Goan community are foreseeing to head to Vox Max, Qurum City Centre to watch the Konkani epic film ‘Osmitay’ on November 3. The screening will take place on full capacity at four large multiplex cinema halls at 4:30 pm, besides one additional show is also scheduled at 5:30 pm due to high public demand.
The tall leader of the Konkani community in Oman, Stanely T H Fernandes left no stone unturned to unite the leaders of various Konkani speaking community associations to prepare for this premiere show in pomp and splendor. The organizing committee in charge of the preparation represented by Mangalorean Konkani Wing of Oman’s Indian Social Club, MCCP, GMCC, and council members of Ruwi and Ghala Church representing Goan and Mangalurean parishioners, also in association with Oman’s premier entertainment company ‘Venture Entertainment’, all of who tirelessly working for the success of this show. With huge positive vibes and praises all around the social media, Oman’s Konkani speaking residents longing to watch this film without a miss. The main attraction during the screening the premiere, will be the visit and presence among the audience of the movie, hero and main actor Ashwin D’Costa, heroine Wencita Dias, well-known actor Dennis Monteiro and Comedy king Nellu Permannur, besides the celebrated personality, Konkani activist and producer of the film Louis J Pinto will land to the shores of Oman. All their presence will add the right nostalgia and flavour to the premiere of the movie.
To know briefly about the lead actor Ashwin D’costa, he is a senior software Engineer in Profession, a talented singer and a dancer by passion and hails from Mangalore. Wencita Dias, the heroine, is a beauty pageant bestowed with several titles, ‘Missy Mangaluru’ ‘Miss Teen Karnataka 2019’, and ‘Miss Teen World Super Model Global’, besides she has acted in 7 album songs and is currently engaged in acting in many upcoming movies in Tulu and Kannada.
The movie reviews globally were extremely positive and have widely recognized the visual splendor of Konkani's rich folk heritage along with a love story that also offered a more realistic portrayal of the community and its culture, and the curated scenes and dialogues in particular are well presented. An overall public view highly commends on the beautiful acting performances by all the actors, especially Denis Monteiro, Ashwin D’Costa, Wencita Dias, Prince Jacob, and Nellu Permannur.
The main milestone of this film is bringing in more than 500 talented actors making their debut appearances in front of the Camera. Notably, some of the other actors contributed to this film are, Sandeep Malani, Stany Alvares, Sai Panandikar from Goa, Gowrish Vernekar, Lulu Fortes, Eric Ozario, Roy Castelino, Harry Correa, Naveen Lobo, Arun Noronha, Mishal Fernandes, and Flavia. The films soulful melodies composed by talented quartet of Alwyn Fernandes, Cajetan Dias, Joel Pereira and Eric Ozario, featuring renowned singer Nihal Tauro and an array of talented vocalists.
In the backdrop of the Konkani people’s quest for identity, their captivating story unfolds the narrative of migration from Goa and showcases the visual splendor of Konkani’s rich folk heritage, all woven into a tender love story of a young couple as they trace their roots, written by Eric Ozario and the screenplay and dialogues by Joel Pereira comes to life through the brilliant direction of the young and talented filmmaker, Vilas Ratnakar Kshatriya. The mesmerizing beauty of the south West coast, lush green hills and scenic Goa is exquisitely captured by the cinematographer Balaraja Gowda, with skillful editing by Mavin Joel Pinto. The filmmakers take the audience on a scenic journey of the coast while bringing to life the rich heritage of Goa through song and music. The movie depicts a wide spectrum of fields such as Konkani music, dance, folklore, culture, language, heritage, literature, art, Konkani self-esteem and identity.
The epic film ‘Osmitay’ released on September 10, at Mangaluru, and since then screened in many countries in Gulf, Canada, Australia and so on. It's a significant moment for the Guinness record holding cultural organization ‘Mandd Sobhann’ in association with the producer of the film Louis J Pinto, promising a cinematic delight for the audiences.
The lead actors, producer, patrons and promoters of the film together with Konkani speaking community in Oman at large, all set to host and enjoy this film together in the houseful theaters at Vox Max, Qurum City Centre.
