Puttur, Aug 25: Dayanand Gowda (36), working as a teacher in St George High School, Nelyady, committed suicide on Wednesday August 24, by consuming poison. He was the son of Honnappa Gowda, former member of Kadaba mandal panchayat, and resident of Panyady in Balya village.
On Wednesday, he went to school as usual, but instead of reporting for duty, applied for leave. He committed suicide in a stretch of protected forest area falling under Padnoor village located on his way home. His brother, who was at Nelyady, repeatedly called him over his mobile phone, but found that Dayanand was not picking the call. Concerned, he started moving towards his home, when he found the motor bike of his brother parked by the side of the road. He went searching for him, and found the lifeless body of his brother a little distance away, it is gathered.
Dayanand was a popular teacher, who was very good at teaching mathematics. After serving at Arantodu and Ramakunja, he had been working at Nelyady high school since the last three years. He had been suffering from migraine since some time, and the family members, in a complaint made to the policemen, suspected this to be the reason for his decision to commit suicide. Deyanand Gowda is survived by parents, four brothers, and three sisters.
