Mangalore: More Drug Peddlers Arrested - Ganja, Brown Sugar, Seized

Mangalore, Aug 25: The Urwa police arrested two persons who were allegedly peddling ganja and brown sugar, and confiscated drugs worth Rs 9,600 from their possession on Wednesday August 24.

The arrested have been identified as Prashant alias Pachchu (25) from Kodical in the city, and Ashraf (32), from Manjeshwar. 480 grams of ganja, 300 mg brown sugar, and two mobile phones were recovered from them.

A police team led by Urwa station police sub-inspector, Suresh P, based on reliable information, approached a hostel near Baliga Store in Bejai, and found the above two persons moving suspiciously. When they were questioned, the policemen found drugs in their possession.

The accused reportedly confessed that they had come there to sell drugs to students. The policemen have gathered that ganja had been brought from Kerala, while brown sugar was got by Ashraf from Goa.

    As rightly said, these are just the peddlers, the syndicate is safe. The large cache of drugs seized in the last week indicate the cancer of drug use is far more widespread in the student community than earlier envisaged and there is tremendous demand for drugs in Mangalore, which is really alarming. Unless the demand dies down there will always be suppliers however much the authorities try to curb the menace!!

    Dear Mr. Ravi,
    Big ones are operating under the umbrella of our legal system (irrespective of which party rules). Our police system have been systematically fed by them. Hence you dont expect anything more from these people.
    Perhaps you may experience when you visit there for various reason, it may be for passport issues or property issues and may be any other issues. You will be treated not less than a dog. Perhaps, i would say that today dogs are treated by individual much better than what the experience you get over there.
    To add further, Even it happened that you identify one of them and report this to police statiion, they will interogate you more than the the culprit, and make you feel that your the real culprit and not them
