Bantwal, Aug 25: The fifth branch of Vijaya Credit Co-operative Society, Guruvayanakere in Beltangady taluk was inaugurated at Asta Vinayaka Complex, Vamadapadav, near here, on Wednesday August 24.
MLA B Ramanath Rai inaugurated the new branch of Vijaya Credit Co-operative Society on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that co-operative societies that are financially stronger contribute to rural development. He also urged the rural customers of co-operative societies to be honest in repaying their loans on time.
Swami Gurudevanand of Odiyoor Mutt, in his message, said that the concept of co-operative movement indeed helps in social reform. “In an era of globalization, co-operative societies are thriving amidst competition from nationalised and private banks”, he added.
Society chairman S Jayaram Shetty, in his presidential address, said that the Society had achieved progress due to the efficiency of the board of directors, staff, and loyal customers.
State Bala Bhavana Society president Sulochana G K Bhat, Vamadapadav C A Bank president Padmanabha Shetty Kundoli, Vamadapadav zonal Bunts Sangh president Ammu Rai Harkady, Chennittody gram panchayat president Navinchandra Shetty, entrepreneurs Sridar Pai and Shankar Pai, and Pilatabettu Co-operative Bank secretary Booba Poojary were the guests present on the occasion.
Society vice-president M G Shetty, CEO Ajit Kumar, and branch manager Sujay Shetty were also present. The Bank’s director Sitaram Shetty welcomed the gathering. Narayan Shetty proposed the vote of thanks while Sanjeev Shetty compered the programme.
